About the Item
Grand pair of Italian commodes or chest of drawers featuring a Venetian style painted finish. The large pine cases measure over 4 feet wide fronted by three storage drawers with patinated bronze ring pulls. The pine has an off-white ground decorated with ochre designs in a baroque neoclassical motif with scrolling vines and swag. The drawers have patinated brass lock-plates with an original key. The painted finish has an intentionally aged and distressed patina to mimic age in a Florentine/Venetian 18th century style. The chests have good, solid joinery and craftsmanship. Sold as a pair.
