About the Item
It is unusual for us to find a Louis-Philippe style chest as large as this Austrian example. Its distinctive design features make for a very handsome piece indeed. From the serpentine edge of the top to the shapely drawer fronts, convex with rounded sides on the top and ogee on thebottom drawers, and the two overlay drawer fronts in between to the decoratively carved hardwood corbels and feet with their stylized acanthus leaf carvings placed on the angle of the chamfered corners of the case, this chest offers a beautiful and useful addition to any décor. This piece has some variation in color, especially on the top drawer front where it blends nicely with the darker feet and corbels. The lighter areas have a warm honey color and only very small knots.
