About the Item

Fine late 18th/ Early 19th Century American Chippendale Two-Over-Three Chest with excellent form in deep stained Apple Wood with secondary wood Pine drawer construction. In original condition with single wood plank sides, simply cut apron, hand cut dove tail joints, brass drop pulls and inset brass key escutcheons. An exceptional American Antique. Dimensions: 37.5” wide by 17.75” deep by 36.5” high. Condition: Please see detail photos. There are various signs of great age and use including wear marks, scuffs, scratches and a larger faded round spot as well as a smaller ring mark on the top surface. The Chest lacks a key and four of the five locks are missing. The top right drawer has a corner loss and the second drawer also has a corner loss on the upper right. On the right side plank there is an old inset rectangular repair which also has a corner loss. At an earlier time castors were added to the legs which are completely hidden as well as a replaced drawer bottom. While some level of restoration may be desired, the Chest retains a particularly fine American Chippendale presentation.
