About the Item

Large French sideboard from the 1940s by René and Gilbert Schmitt. Solid oak structure with a ceruse finish. The cabinet is decorated with a superb painting on the doors entitled “Riches heures du duc de Berry” (The Illuminated Manuscripts of the Duke of Berry), framed by a twisted gold border to accentuate the effect of the painting. Exceptional workmanship, unique piece. The two hinged doors open onto a series of shelves. Very good vintage condition, with signs of age and use throughout the piece: a ring mark on the top, slight scratches, a few chips in the wood, etc. (see photos). The key is included with the piece.
