About the Item

A stunning and extremely elegant Russian early 19th century 1st Empire period flamed Mahogany, ormolu, and brass commode. The four door chest is raised by fine square tapered legs below the straight frieze with a superb rounded bombee front decorated with a mottled brass band. At the center are the four drawers each decorated with circular pulls and keyhole escutcheons with a lovely beaded design set on a sensational flamed Mahogany background. Elegant fluted columns lead upwards flanking the drawers and displaying exquisitely fitted brass fillets in the flutes. Each side is decorated with a remarkable recessed panel framed within a mottled brass fillet while the top showcases the outstanding wood grain with a delicate mottled band at the border.
