These cabinets are comprised of rosewood with square steel tube legs, a pair. They also have a hanging mechanism on the back of each cabinet for hanging on a wall unit. The legs may have been added after the fact by someone or they could have been an original option. We have been unable to determine this for sure. The cabinets designer and maker have been attributed based upon the Danish makers mark inside the drawers; archived research including online sources; vintage documentation and catalogs; designer literature; and other materials. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, We have repaired all nicks dings as feasible. Each cabinet has some age-related marks but shows beautifully. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1960’s. No need to adjust your eyes folks… you aren’t seeing double. We are here to double your pleasure with this marvelous pair of vintage cabinets. BUT, they’re not just ANY cabinets… Not even close! This is a phenomenal pair of Mid Century Scandinavian Modern Rud Thygesen Johnny Sorensen for Hansen Guldborg (also known as HG,) cabinets comprised of rosewood frames. Both cabinets have four equal sized drawers per cabinet featuring fabulous, recessed half-moon rosewood finger pulls, and striking square steel tube legs… which you could remove if you prefer to add them to your existing wall unit. WOW! Just think of their possibilities! Using both together in your family room or dining area would be incredible, not to mention the ample storage they would provide! Or split them up and place one in one room and one in another. They would make wonderful individual credenzas, nightstands, end table cabinets, or storage organization in your study. These marvelous cabinets exhibit versatility and functionality with an exquisite quintessential Scandinavian Modern style plus the extraordinary look of their gorgeous rosewood veneers! They are wonderful in their simplicity!! Thygesen and Sorensen were instrumental in contributing to the Golden Age of Danish Design in the 1950’s and 1960’s. When they designed a Birthday gift for Danish King Frederick IX it launched a new era in their lives. They resisted general trends and stuck to their desires to be independent designers and their exclusive furnishings and collections attracted much attention. A highlight of their career together was their design in the 1980s for Café Victor, a hip hangout in downtown Copenhagen. In addition, the two furniture designers exhibited annually at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Autumn Exhibition. However, after almost thirty years of collaboration, in 1995 they decided to end a successful partnership to pursue individual careers.
