About the Item

A compact jewel of Asian craftsmanship, this rosewood chest blends ornate detail with purposeful form. The body is crafted from richly figured rosewood, its grain deep and warm, with the wood’s natural luster preserved. Ornate Korean brass accents adorn the front: decorative hardware, a slide-closure latch at the top, and detailed pulls. The front panel opens downwards (flip-drop style) to reveal two pull-out drawers set into a chest coffer, plus an open cabinet shelf beneath—providing versatile storage for books, accessories, or bedside essentials. Condition is original with tasteful signs of use: occasional blemishes on the top and left side that speak to its history, brass hardware showing a gentle patina that enhances rather than distracts. The wood remains solid, the brass fittings secure, and the piece radiates old-world elegance. In interiors valuing texture, craftsmanship, and material richness, this chest holds its own. Warm lighting will accentuate the rosewood grain; brass details will glow against darker tones or contrast beautifully with lighter surroundings. It pairs especially well with lacquered or natural wood furniture, soft textiles, and décor that embraces depth and heritage. For collectors of Asian modern furniture, those drawn to rosewood pieces, or anyone looking for storage that is as decorative as it is useful, this is a rare find. It offers character, craftsmanship, and form—all in a petite yet powerful size. 20.5” Wide x 13.25” Deep x 21 5/8” High Condition: Original condition with a few blemishes on top and left side (see photos). Brass hardware, has some patina.

Thomasville Embassy Wood Inlay Asian Modern Campaign Style Brass Accent Credenza
By Drexel, Henredon, Dorothy Draper, Thomasville
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Dorothy Draper style campaign credenza made by esteemed US furniture maker Thomasville circa 1970s. Old growth flaxen flared grain fruitwood (most likely pecan) from top to bottom are the hallmarks of the Embassy line. Black lacquer accents and brass pull hardware tie together British traditional and Eastern design. The door facades exhibit a diamond pattern wood inlay with contrasting color tones, presented tastefully to demonstrate a delicate ornate sensibility. Two large Interior cabinet spaces offer heaps of open storage with a single stationary shelf in each bay. No composite or MDF anywhere on this campaign credenza. Thomasville used a combination of solid hardwood interiors, solid fruitwood and veneers. We purchased this from the original owners out of time-capsule estate and nearly everything in the home was from the Thomasville Embassy...
