About the Item
20th c., Louis XV/XVI transitional style inlaid commode with loose shaped rouge marble top, inlaid flower basket design to both drawer fronts on slender cabriole legs with scrolled caps. The sides and front with cross banding and bookmatched veneer. Each drawer has two ornate brass medallion ring pulls with lovely ribbon detail to complement the inlaid ribbon on the drawer front. Additional brass fittings lend an opulent look to the piece.
This is a very crisp and balanced piece of furniture, loaded with detail yet not overly showy. The curved legs, rounded edges and shaped marble top contribute to the femininity of this piece.
