About the Item
A very rare antique historic monumental American Eastlake walnut
Douglas Fir corner cabinet from The Knapp House, a Portland Oregon mansion, circa 1882.
The corner cabinet is in two sections, the main twin door cabinet is raised on a twin drawer plinth, the top having a stepped
down-turned curved crown, which is supported by six long ribbed corbel brackets with incised carving and circular carved bosses, to the center is an inset rectangular carved panel. The cabinet has two large glazed doors flanked by pilasters which continue from the corbel brackets above, the sides of the cabinet are canted
are decorated with a corresponding pair of pilasters, the doors enclose four original 'boomerang' shaped shelves, with plenty of storage below.
The base is also canted to match the above, and is fitted with two drawers having the original brass handles. The cabinet is in very good condition and is ready to occupy your mansion!
The Knapp House was a luxurious 18,000 sq foot mansion located in Northwest Portland and occupied a full block between NW 17th
18th Avenues between NW Davis
NW Everett Streets, it was built in 1882
demolished in 1950. The construction cost was an eye-watering $80,000 in 1882 and now as a construction project would be around $29.5 Million. This cabinet has been stored in Kaiser Oregon for the last 70+ years.

A very stylish antique Austrian Biedermeier figured Ash corner cabinet, circa 1830.
The cabinet with an ebonized crown and a glazed door below with arched panels, the door enclosing three shelves and the interior having the original grey paint. To the middle is a second ebonized band of wood and a single paneled door enclosing a single shelf, the cabinet with a corresponding ebonized band to the base and is raised on stile feet.
