About the Item

Early 20th C. Norwegian Folk Art Hanging Cabinet by Martin I. Dørdal, with key and lock. A museum-quality hanging corner cabinet / cupboard by celebrated Norwegian artist Martin Ingebrigtsen Dørdal (1874-1957). This exceptional piece, crafted from solid nature pine, showcases Dørdal's masterful hand-carving through an intricately sculpted crown and swirling acanthus vine motif. Dørdal's work, of this same type, was gifted to Norwegian royalty and remains in the royal collection -- commissioned as gift for King Haakon and King Olav of Norway, where they remain in the royal collection at "Kongsseteren" in Oslo. Boasting a professionally polished surface with a warm, rustic patina, the cabinet is in excellent vintage condition. Signed / Stamped "M.I. Dørdal" on the reverse, it represents an authentic piece of Scandinavian heritage. Ideal for farmhouse, cabin, or country interiors, this versatile shelf is a functional work of art, perfect for use as a kitchen cabinet, display shelf, or sculptural wall decor.
