About the Item
An elegant Louis XVI period corner cabinet or armoire (in French, "encoignure") in walnut. The facade of the armoire is curved, with inset panels in the doors (circa 1780). Nicely carved details include cabled fluting on the sides and center of the cabinet, scroll feet, and dentil molding and flower motifs on the crown. Includes original iron hardware and working lock with key. The interior has been refitted with three shelves.

- Condition:Repaired: Blocks added to back feet. Shelves are more recent. Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Very good overall, with minor scrapes, scratches, chips, wood shrinkage of joinery, all consistent with age and use. Hinges appear to have had some old repairs or modifications. Walnut has a very nice, rich patina.
