About the Item

A handsome Swedish Gustavian-style corner cabinet dating to circa 1840–1850, crafted in pine and originating from the Stockholm area. The exterior is finished in black with a richly developed patina, lending depth and character to the surface. The central door is fitted with a decorative milled panel and secures with its original lock; one working key is included. Both front corners are articulated with triple vertical millings and small decorative elements, reinforcing the architectural clarity typical of Gustavian design. A carved decorative strip above the legs further references neoclassical motifs. The interior is painted in a soft celadon green and contains three fixed shelves, offering practical storage and a pleasing contrast to the dark exterior. The two front legs are solid, classically tapered, and finely decorated, providing both elegance and stability. In good overall condition with age-appropriate wear, this corner cabinet is a strong example of mid-19th-century Swedish Gustavian revival furniture, suitable for both traditional and curated interiors.
