About the Item
An impressive and most handsome Italian early 17th century Baroque Period Brass and Walnut credenza. This attractive one drawer two door rectangular credenza is supported on two mottled block feet with sixteen Brass French nails evenly distributed on the front. The front displays two doors with concave corner trims and male busts in the center while being flanked on both sides by a slender concave corner panels. The keyhole is centrally located on the right door. All four front panels are decorated with additional Brass French nails throughout. Both sides are decorated with a pair of panels with concave corners without Brass French nails. The section above the two doors contains two female busts serving as pulls on the elongated drawer and is decorated with additional Brass French nails throughout. A carved reeded Walnut band extends across the front and both sides. The flat rectangular top contains evenly spaced Brass nails on the front edge, while leaving the two sides smooth.
