About the Item
Ok, buckle up, because this monumental Art Deco cabinet / sideboard / credenza is about to make you forget all about that minimalist phase you went through. Attributed to the one and only Jules Leleu, this piece is basically the Elvis of credenzas—luxurious, commanding, and absolutely unforgettable. Standing an impressive 119" long, 23" deep, and 39" tall, this beauty is not just a cabinet; it's a full-blown experience.
We took this bad boy through a painstaking restoration, and now it’s glowing with the kind of confidence only decades of history can give. Sure, it’s unsigned (because labels go missing, darling), but with materials this gorgeous and craftsmanship this fine, we’re more than ready to attribute it to Leleu. The book-matched golden burl on the six doors is practically dripping with luxury, and that bow-front shape? It’s like the cabinet’s giving you a flirty wink with its curves.
Now let's talk about the marble top; the tan marble is streaked with white, black, brown, and even a little red veining, nature's artistry. It had a rough patch in its past (haven’t we all?), and it was cracked but the former owners loved it enough to have it repaired. If you squint hard enough, you’ll see the tiniest hint of its history. We're happy to swap it out for a fresh slab, free of charge, but we decided to keep it original.
The rest of the top and sides are all wrapped in sumptuous rosewood, with that rich wood grain running down to the platform base, which also happens to be wrapped in a very modern zig-zag copper wire banding. It’s like the perfect bracelet for this Art Deco beauty.
Inside, it’s equally fabulous with 12 drawers, 3 shelves, and 4 locks—and it comes with its original skeleton keys.
Jules Leleu, was an absolute Art Deco powerhouse. Known for creating furniture that made people stop and stare, his work wasn’t just luxurious—it was revolutionary. He was all about the blending of modernist and French elegance, often working with materials like rosewood and burl to craft pieces that would make even your chicest friends jealous. He designed for the crème de la crème, from ocean liners to embassies, proving that great taste never goes out of style.
Of course, Leleu had some incredible contemporaries, like Osvaldo Borsani, Paolo Buffa, and Jean Prouvé—all of whom brought their own magic to the Rationalist movement and the world of French decorative arts.
This isn’t just a cabinet—it’s a piece with soul. Whether you’re looking for a showstopping entryway piece or a statement in a great hall, this Art Deco dream is here to steal hearts and anchor your space in pure, unfiltered fabulousness.
This credenza would look incredible in any mid century modern, moder, traditional or art deco space. True great furniture design melds effortlessly into almost any environment and this credenza is a testament to that. A bit Modern, a bit deco, a bit Italian Rationalist-- this credenza has it all. The zig zag motif on the bottom is insane. We have this piece alongside a Jean Royere lounge as well as a Muarice Rinck cabinet and Vladimir Kagan sofa and this piece not only does this piece hold its own, it makes a statement! Also worth noting, this piece is made of solid wood, and has quarter sawn interior. This bad boy is the final boss of credenzas.
