About the Item

Gio Ponti (Milan, 1891 - Milan, 1979) was an Italian architect, designer and essayist, considered one of the masters of 20th-century Italian architecture. Ponti worked in various sectors, from ceramics (with Richard Ginori) to furniture design, from ocean liner interiors to theater sets. He is also known for the Pirelli Tower in Milan, designed with Fornaroli, Rosselli and Nervi, a symbol of modern Milan, and for the Palazzo Montecatini. He founded and directed the magazine *Domus*, which played a crucial role in the renewal of Italian design and architecture.
