About the Item

Dorothy Draper style campaign credenza made by esteemed US furniture maker Thomasville circa 1970s. Old growth flaxen flared grain fruitwood (most likely pecan) from top to bottom are the hallmarks of the Embassy line. Black lacquer accents and brass pull hardware tie together British traditional and Eastern design. The door facades exhibit a diamond pattern wood inlay with contrasting color tones, presented tastefully to demonstrate a delicate ornate sensibility. Two large Interior cabinet spaces offer heaps of open storage with a single stationary shelf in each bay. No composite or MDF anywhere on this campaign credenza. Thomasville used a combination of solid hardwood interiors, solid fruitwood and veneers. We purchased this from the original owners out of time-capsule estate and nearly everything in the home was from the Thomasville Embassy line. Purchased in the 1970s and kept in the same home until today. Every piece was pampered and this credenza was no exception. Cleaned and detailed inside and out. Please reach out if you're interested in the matching bar-cart, dining table or chairs. This Thomasville Credenza was delicately restored to preserve the original patina. We did our absolute best to recondition this sideboard while preserving the rich, oily patina. The top was professionally refinished by our in-house cabinet shop to match the original and untouched sections. We're certain you won't be able to tell the difference. It's a delicate balancing act to maintain originality while also recondition issues that need improvement. Please reach out with any questions about our restoration process. Dorothy-Draper-meets-Asian-Modern ambition, this Thomasville Embassy credenza is a design ambassadress in every regard. The body is crafted from old-growth fruitwood—likely pecan—showcasing flared, flaxen grain from top to bottom, with wood-inlay door panels forming a refined diamond pattern in contrasting tones. Black lacquer accents deepen the visual drama, while brass pulls and trim furnish the piece with campaign style elegance. Every surface is solid wood or high-quality veneer; no MDF or particleboard has been used. Inside the two large cabinet bays are fixed shelving, offering practical open storage. The piece was acquired from a longtime owner’s home, where it had been well preserved, and underwent delicate restoration: the top was professionally refinished to match its original finish, and the restoration retained the rich oily patina so prized in Thomasville’s Embassy line. Vintage character remains: minor spotting, small imperfections in veneer or finish—these are subtle, honest, and lend authenticity rather than detract. Structurally, it’s very sound: doors swing true, hardware is tight, the wood feels stable. In interiors that favor statement furniture, material warmth, and mixed decorative influences, this credenza shines. It’s equally at home as a media console, buffet, or impressive sideboard. Warm woods, brass accents, polished stone, or even lacquered surfaces will complement it beautifully. For collectors of campaign style furniture, Thomasville Embassy pieces, or those who value restoration with integrity, this credenza is rare. It’s not just storage—it’s presence, lineage, and artistry.
