About the Item

18th Century Belgian oak cabinet from the Wallonia region of Belgium. Consisting of a cupboard top with a very decorative, bold architrave, two panelled doors carved with flowers and foliage to the front corners and sides and three shelves within resting on the lower cabinet. The top part has a horizontal panel again heavily carved, which folds down to reveal a desk opening. Flanked by very ornately carved shoulders in an unusual rounded form, creating an excellent surface to exhibit the craftsman's carving skills. The base has a further four panelled carved doors with shelves. This design is continued with carved flower and foliage panels on the sides. Resting on two paw feet at the front. Original oak with very good patina.
