About the Item

A softwood kitchen or hallway storage cupboard from the Alpes region. Furniture like this has been made for centuries by local craftsmen throughout Europe. Simple but ingenious joinery techniques and instinctive feeling for proportions was passed down by generations. This way peasants could built utilitary pieces during winter when they couldn't work on the land. This sort of furniture, now enriched with great patina, still appeals today as one offs which survived by chance. As well as being practical they are testimony's of a simple, pure beauty which we appreciate a lot in the modern world.
