About the Item

19th Century Painted Jelly Cupboard with Glass Doors and Original PatinA Authentic 19th-century jelly cupboard retaining its original layered green and ochre paint with extensive, honest wear throughout. The surface shows rich patina, paint loss, and age consistent with over a century of use, giving the piece strong character and visual depth. The cupboard features two glazed doors with arched muntins, opening to reveal a dark, naturally aged wood interior with three fixed shelves. The glass panes show subtle irregularity typical of period glass. Raised on turned legs with a molded base and cornice, the proportions are compact yet substantial. Well suited for use as a jelly cupboard, display cabinet, or pantry storage, this piece works equally well in traditional, folk, or layered contemporary interiors. Structurally sound and visually compelling, with no attempt made to over-restore. ⸻ Details • Period: 19th Century • Materials: Wood, glass, original paint • Height: 69 in • Width: 38 in • Depth: 15.5 in • Interior shelf depth: 12 in • Shelf heights: • Top shelf opening: 14 in • Middle shelf opening: 11 in • Bottom shelf opening: 22 in • Condition: Good antique condition with original paint wear, surface losses, and patina consistent with age
