About the Item
A unique Louis XV period, circa 1750, carved oak "presentation" buffet in wonderful antique condition. The front doors showcase carved embellishments in high-relief such as an oval rosette and complemented by decorative escutcheons. The left-hand door's interior latch is quite impressive and the top lock is functional. Four removable shelves are housed within the top. The apron houses a large drawer with paneled front that contains a permanent partition down the center. While the lock on the lower doors no longer functions, instead they are held closed with a magnetic clasp (as found) and forged iron latch that mirrors the one within the top. The whole sits flush to the ground on a plinth base. One key is included. Make sure to view the detailed images to get a closer look at the great patina and quality craftsmanship.

A handsome and sizable solid oak buffet a deux corps (in two sections) with Provincial charm from 19th century France. This four door case antique is split into two bodies: a deeper lower body and a more narrow but tall upper body. The upper cabinet is crowned with a molded cornice above imaginative carvings in the frieze depicting swags and hanging tassels, more in the Louis XVI taste. The upper doors are delightfully paneled and conceal a spacious interior with two removable shelves, approximately 13" deep.
