About the Item

Tall two-door cupboard constructed of solid pine with a deeply worn painted surface and original hardware throughout. The paneled doors open to reveal three interior shelves and removable crown molding, all secured within a dovetailed frame. The piece stands on gently arched bracket feet and features molded trim along the top, adding a quiet architectural presence characteristic of 19th-century rural cabinetry. Built during the late Victorian era, this form was commonly produced by regional cabinetmakers throughout the Midwest and Northeast for household or pantry storage. The honest joinery, pegged construction, and hand-planed boards reflect small-shop craftsmanship of the period. The finish has mellowed to a rich, earthy tone, where remnants of its original red-brown paint mix with bare pine grain along edges and corners. 48" W x 22" D x 75" H Shows expected surface wear consistent with age, including softened corners, scattered scuffs, and loss to the painted finish. No significant cracks or structural breaks observed; all hardware remains original and operational. MM - C-17381 - 012326
