About the Item
What a lovely little dresser base! On many such pieces the marble top has been replaced due to loss or breakage but this one is intact with only a few superficial scratches and stains. At the top of the case is a full-width hand-cut dovetailed drawer, standing slightly proud of two flat paneled doors, the panels secured with bold mullion strips. The front corners of the case have fluting in bas-relief with a large hardwood button to the base, a split baluster towards the top, and crowned with an unusual carved corbel. The doors open a full 180 degrees on brass hinges to reveal a single interior shelf, adjustable on original wooden sawtooth track. This piece has a lovely even honey color with only small knots. It is a versatile accent piece in any location and would make a fine powder room vanity base or bedroom TV stand.
