About the Item
We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare Victorian tambour door cupboard and bank of drawers
I have never seen another cupboard like this, tambour drawers are almost always mounted vertically, it is very rare to see them horizontally. The cupboard is all mahogany, the very bottom lock is stamped 1503 and VR under the Queens crown, what that means is it was made during the reign of Queen Victoria
The tambour section has been totally dismantled, serviced and rebuilt, the backing velum paper that holds the tambours together had perished on one side, as such it has been replaced with leather. The cupboard now works however the left side is temperamental and takes a bit of understanding to take it move as it should, the right side is just fine
We have cleaned waxed and polished the it from top to bottom, it looks amazing to my eyes and hands other than the above mentioned points, it will naturally have age related patina marks here and there

Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade
