Baroque Bureau Cabinet (Desk) Northern Italy, Lombardy, circa 1720 Walnut burl and fruitwood veneer, inlaid with reserves and fillets; bronze mounts and knobs This elegant Baroque bureau cabinet, crafted in Lombardy around 1720, is veneered in walnut burl and fruitwood, richly inlaid with geometric reserves and fillets. The façade features a hinged writing surface above four drawers, while the interior compartment reveals six small drawers arranged in two rows for documents and writing instruments. A large, hinged compartment surmounts the piece, providing additional concealed storage. The refined bronze mounts and knobs highlight the cabinet’s sculptural lines and warm tonal contrasts, characteristic of Northern Italian Baroque craftsmanship in the early 18th century. Measurements: W 57 inches x D 25.5 (open 36.6) inches x h 47 inches. W 145 x D 65 (open 93) x H 120 cm.
