About the Item
Belgian Bauhaus Desk in Beech with 2-3-Piece Re-Nickeled Tubular Frame, 1930s
This piece, with its sleek and solid appearance, is both modern and timeless.
The rounded shapes of the tabletop, handles, and legs create an attractive visual effect.
The surface of the solid wooden base has been completely sanded down and restored with a silk matt varnish, giving the wood a rich, well-maintained color and a silk matt finish.
The tabletop has a small skirting strip and the legs have foot covers
for perfect and secure standing on wood and carpet.
The nickel-plated metal base was already corroded and therefore had to be completely stripped.
It was then polished, placed in the nickel-plating bath several times, and polished again.
This was very time-consuming and costly, as there are hardly any companies left that have such large baths and are also reluctant to accept small orders or orders for just one item.
The result is impressive a perfectly restored object and wonderfully preserved for the next 100 years of use.
We lined the drawer bottoms with light gray Alcantara.
There is also a shelf, photo attached, but it has not yet been restored.
