About the Item

So practical, yet beautiful, this piece of history dates to mid 1800s and is a wonderful handmade American piece. Originating in Kentucky, Tennessee or the Carolinas, this Southern cherry hand-crafted desk is comprised of an upper pigeonhole cabinet with a drop-front writing surface, and lower drawer, which was especially popular in the Southern region during the mid 19th century, inset brass hinges and keyhole escutcheons, turned legs with baluster and ring turnings, simple square apron, hand-cut dovetail joints, brass hinges, iron lock and hand-forged key, all with original finish and lovely patina overall. Imagine working from this unique and charming environment in your home office. Or having it just to admire, adding that extra touch needed to a beautiful space in your home! Spend some time with the provided images and consider the possibilities! Note: key works for both upper desk pull down and lower drawer.
