About the Item
For sale is a good quality Edwardian hand painted satinwood bureau, painted in the Adam manner with scrolling trellis borders around floral swags, figural reserves and ribbon tied urns. The fall enclosing a fitted interior, over two short and three graduated long drawers, raised
on bracket feet. This piece remains in very good condition for its age.

H. Jewell were cabinet makers with premises in Little Queen Street, Holborn, in London. They were founded in 1830 and were a family business. They are listed as having sold their furniture to Standen House, the Arts
Crafts home in East Grinstead. They also restored antiques and sold them from their London shop.
