About the Item

An elegant French 19th century Louis XV st. mahogany one drawer desk. The desk is raised by four slender, elegant cabriole legs with highly chased ormolu foliate mounts at the top, chutes, and wrap-around sabots. The single wide drawer with inlaid tulipwood has a central acanthus leaf-designed ormolu keyhole escutcheon. All the sides also have tulipwood inlay. The top has a fitted gilt-tooled brown leather within mahogany border. All original gilt and warm patina throughout.
