About the Item
Superb Louis XVI/Directoire style marquetry desk/bonheur du jour with musical motifs. The top features an inset marble slab surrounded by a gilt bronze gallery. The upper section opens with sliding wooden curtains on either side, revealing six small drawers and three shelves. The lower section comprises the writing surface, which opens in two sections and is covered in green leather. There are also two drawers beneath the top. This desk is original, elegant, practical, and in good condition. A beautifully crafted 19th-century French piece.
