Handsome Mid-Century Modern double pedestal desk or vanity by Franklin Shockey Furniture from their Sculpted Pine Collection. In wonderful vintage condition. It does have some nicks and dings due to age and use but we have restored and touched up the original finish, so it has a beautiful patina. We did give it a coat of wipe on poly for durability and the original moldings on the lower back have been replaced with new replicas. Please see photos, circa 1950s. We were so excited when we came across this splendid Mid-Century Modern desk. Or is it a vanity? We obtained it along with several other matching pieces from the same collection so check our other listings too! It is by Franklin Shockey Furniture and from their sculpted pine collection. Comprised of solid knotty pine! No veneers at all on this piece and it has all the natural character of the natural wood knot holes and all. This line of furniture by Franklin Shockey is a pleasant combination of the sleek undulating lines of Mid-Century Modern mixed with the rustic pine of Dude Ranch or Adirondack furniture. Its arched legs and softly rounded edges have some similarities to Heywood Wakefield’s solid maple Mid-Century Modern pieces as does its smooth beautiful finish. This double pedestal desk has a center drawer and four drawers in each pedestal. All the drawers have the unique carved bowtie front and slender brass hardware. It offers plenty of storage and will look magnificent wherever you use it whether as a desk or vanity. The Franklin Shockey Furniture Company of Lexington N.C. has a unique story. Franklin Shockey owned a financial investment firm in NYC. Sometime in 1940 he travelled south with his business partner, George Ennis, to purchase plywood for a small wooden item Mr. Shockey had invented. He fell in love with the beautiful solid woods he found there, purchased a factory, and began making his solid wood furniture. The furniture company became very successful operating into the 1960s. Although the furniture business was successful Mr. Shockey never stopped being involved with his investment firm. In 1980 Franklin Shockey passed at the age of 80. Wonderful Art Deco style entry desk or bar by IMA S.A. Bogota, Colombia comprised of mahogany, mahogany veneer, laminate, brass hinges, and brass ring pulls. Gorgeous condition with wear as you would expect with a vintage piece but no outstanding flaws that we have detected. A small repair was made in the veneer and is unnoticeable. Please see photos. Circa 20TH Century. MARAVILLOSO!!!! This art deco style entry desk or bar was made by IMS S.A. in Bogota, Colombia and is functional, versatile, and unusually unique. It is comprised of two separate pieces. Both are solid mahogany. The base has a gorgeous Greek Key design on one side and it’s plain on the other so you can change the look to be decorative or more transparent. The countertop is a flip open design with brass ring pulls and brass hinges that open to a large storage area for supplies of your choice. There are two large drawers on each lower side and two smaller drawers above the countertop lined with laminate inside and mahogany veneer. Because it is counter height, it would be perfect as a walk-up bar. Or use it as an entry desk in your home.
