About the Item

Midcentury Writing desk realized by Mobili Castelli, Italy. Walnut veneer, brass key, single drawer. A refined example of mid-century Italian craftsmanship, this 1950s writing desk combines clean architectural lines with warm materiality. The piece is constructed in walnut veneer, displaying a rich, even grain that emphasizes the desk’s geometric silhouette and lends an understated elegance to its functional form. The rectangular top features softly rounded edges, resting on two full-height side panels that provide both visual solidity and structural balance. At the center, a discreet front apron conceals a single drawer, complete with its original brass key and functioning lock—an appealing detail that enhances both the desk’s practicality and period authenticity. The drawer is neatly constructed with a natural wood interior, evidence of thoughtful workmanship. The proportions are generous yet minimal, making this desk suitable for both home offices and sophisticated interior settings. Wear consistent with age and use, including small marks, slight veneer irregularities, and expected patina to the surfaces. Overall, the piece remains in very good vintage condition, structurally sound and visually coherent.
