About the Item

A terrific example of a compact desk designed by Pierre Jeanneret for the Chandigarh Project ca. 1960. This example in solid plank teak. Two cubbys above a small drawer and large storage area with a door. Compass legs on one side with small angled legs to base. Great sympathetically retired condition . Pierre Jeanneret played a quiet but crucial role in shaping modern Chandigarh. Working alongside Le Corbusier, he focused on the city’s human scale—designing furniture, public buildings, and housing that balanced simplicity with everyday functionality. His teak-and-cane chairs, now icons of mid-century design, were originally just thoughtful solutions for new civic offices. Jeanneret stayed in Chandigarh for over a decade, leaving behind a body of work that still defines the city’s character.
