About the Item

Decorative desk set in glazed Talavera ceramic made around the mid‑20th century, notable for its vibrant polychromy in cobalt blue, yellow, orange, and green on a white background. The piece features an architectural layout with an elevated base, two lidded inkwells, and a front space for pens or stationery. At the center stands a prominent zoomorphic figure of fantastical character, possibly inspired by a lion or mythological dog, executed in golden-amber tones over a bluish base. This element adds a symbolic and ornamental dimension, evoking the popular imagery and iconographic tradition of Spanish ceramics. The surface is decorated with floral friezes, vegetal scrolls, and geometric borders that reflect the Mudéjar and Renaissance influence characteristic of Talavera. The piece is hand-molded and hand-painted, and bears the historic signature of Talavera.
