This antique Housekeeper’s Dresser dates from the mid nineteenth century and is a fine example of early Victorian craftsmanship and design. Constructed in pine, it retains a superb original colour and a beautifully developed patination that has mellowed naturally over time, adding warmth and character throughout the piece. The dresser features an elegant one piece top with a shaped shelving area, providing attractive and practical display space while enhancing its overall architectural presence.
Below the top section sits a bank of three graduated frieze drawers, each fitted with original turned sycamore knobs, offering generous and versatile storage. The base incorporates a spacious cupboard, ideal for household or dining storage, and is surmounted by traditional bun feet that give the piece a pleasing sense of balance and proportion. The dresser has remained remarkably intact, preserving its original form and detailing, which is increasingly rare to find.
