About the Item
A lovely chest of drawers or dresser by Robert W. Irwin Furniture Company. Crafted from French Walnut in Louis XV styling. Features a rectangular form with burled walnut front, four drawers, cabriole legs and ormolu mounts. Circa 1928-1940
As a young man Robert Irwin started working for Grand Rapids School Furniture Co. He started as an office clerk and then became plant superintendent. He later purchased Royal Furniture Co with some colleagues, which eventually became Irwin. Irwin specialized in high end furniture using European and ancient American classic designs. He used French Walnut, Rosewood Mahogany, Aspen, Satinwood and Curly Maple.
