About the Item
A fine antique 18th Century George III mahogany brass mounted wine cellarette, wine cooler, circa 1780.
The cellarette in two sections is of octagonal form and made from solid mahogany, the hinged locking top (key present) opening to the original lead lined interior, the cellarette with brass strapping and brass side handles, the interior with spaces for eight bottles and a larger center space for a bottle or decanter. The cellarette is on a stand with four square tapered legs with the original brass casters, to the underside of the cellarette is the original brass spigot tap to drain water.
These cellarettes were used to chill white wine with iced water, this elegant cellarette would be equally good to store red wine or even bottles of liquor.
