Presenting a simply gorgeous early 19 C French empire armoire wine cabinet. This is an early 19th Century, French empire style or Napoleon I, Armoire made with the most stunning butterflied burl Walnut veneers, which we have converted into a wine cabinet or bodega. The Armoire is from circa 1820 and has a convex (curved) front with side ebonized pillars and pelmet. The fittings/ormolu mounts are all original. It has a stunning natural butterflied walnut patina. It is of gorgeous neat proportions. The Armoire now opens to reveal a series of wine racks and makes a gorgeous wine cabinet holding up to 64 bottles. THIS IS A REAL CONVERSATION PIECE ! It has been featured on various Wine Collector and Connoisseur Blogs !! It was our idea to convert a simple wardrobe/armoire into a wine cabinet/bodega and we have personally used it for years. We could have sold this piece a hundred times over, as everyone that sees it, falls in love with it …… but we are only now ready to sell ! This piece simply proves that antiques are made to be used and can be functional as well as beautiful ! Condition: Good condition for age. Minor repairs over the last 200 years but nothing significant. Doors ‘creak’ a little and do not close fully ‘flush’ (Slight gap at top). Back panel (to the rear and not visible from front) a replacement. Central door molding a recent replacement. Recently re-gilded with gold leaf. Original lock needs servicing. No key (key in photos is for decoration/display only). FRENCH EMPIRE STYLE: The Empire style, French pronunciation: [?~.pi??],the second phase of Romanticism, is an early-nineteenth-century design movement in architecture, furniture, other decorative arts, and the visual arts that flourished between 1800 and 1815 during the Consulate and the First French Empire periods, although its life span lasted until the late 1820s (or more depending on each country). From France it spread into much of Europe and the United States. The style originated in and takes its name from the rule of Napoleon I in the First French Empire, when it was intended to idealize Napoleon’s leadership and the French state. The style corresponds in that intent to the Biedermeier style in the German-speaking lands, Federal style in the United States, and the Regency style in Britain. The previous style in France was called Louis XVI style.

PRESENTING AN ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING 19C French Empire Style Style Complete Bedroom Suite/Set. HIGHLY, IMPORTANT AND UNIQUE Empire Style Bedroom Suite or Set from circa 1880. The Suite/Set is almost completely original, save the bed, which was originally twin size, but professionally commissioned to be customized and converted into a Euro King Size for modern practicality. The quality of the conversion matches the quality of the suite/set. All pieces have gilt bronze mounted fittings; beautiful patina, beautiful parquetry; beautiful carrara marble tops, simply stunning! About 10 years ago, I saw the ‘identical twin’ of the Commode in an Antique Store on Central Park in New York, however it had a less desirable green marble top (IMHO), and they were looking for 30k USD for the Commode, on its OWN! This Suite/Set is SO GOOD that it is the main exhibit in our rear Showroom. Not marked but under the marble top of the commode there are 2 signatures in pencil (1) M. Le Youters (?) and (2) M. Daneels. You will NOT find another complete suite/set like this ANYWHERE! PRESENTING A EXCEPTIONAL, RARE and MONUMENTAL Pair of Late 19C French Empire Brass Wall Sconces. These matching pair of wall sconces or wall lights are LARGE! Made in France, circa 1890 of solid brass in the Empire Style. Each, is three and a half foot tall (41 inches) and each has 5 branches/lights, with frosted glass flame/torch shades. Unusually, the branches, lights and shades all point downwards, probably due to the Size of each sconce. They are flush mounted wall sconces/lights and weigh around 30 lbs each. At the top they have the Classic ribbon bow. As you move downwards, the have a large convex medallion/armorial medallion, with swags and laurel wreaths below The lower portion has a central tassel swag over a fluted architectural column which ends with an acorn/flower bulb style finial. Each light branch is decorated with a floral curved and scrolling leaf. The rear of the sconces has all the ‘oxidization’ one would expect from late 19th century pieces. Fully operational and in great condition. Good quality casting. Not marked, but were undoubtedly made by a top French maker! WE ‘DARE’ YOU TO FIND ANOTHER PAIR!
