About the Item
A striking French mid-century crystal globe liquor cabinet, crafted circa 1955–1975, combining cut crystal and finely detailed gilt brass. This luxurious “cave à liqueur” presents a sculptural globe-form body with vertical ribbed crystal, mounted on a substantial faceted crystal pedestal and gilt brass base with neoclassical ornamentation.
The globe opens on its horizontal axis to reveal a complete original set of three crystal decanters with gilt brass stoppers, together with six matching liqueur glasses. All pieces feature crisp hand-cut facets typical of French crystal production of the period.
Decorative details include a beautifully engraved brass equatorial band, neoclassical guilloché patterns, and a dome-shaped finial. The craftsmanship, quality of materials, and the “Made in France” label on the underside strongly attribute the piece to the high-end French crystal workshops active during the 1960s, such as Cristal de Paris or associated maisons.
This is one of the luxury versions of the model, distinguished by its heavy faceted crystal plinth and refined metalwork. Complete sets in this condition are increasingly rare.
A sophisticated and functional statement object—perfect for a bar, library, office or collector’s interior.
