Spectacular rare cylindrical Swedish Grace (Art Deco) bar cabinet attributed to SMF Bodafors (AB Svenska Möbelfabrikerna), one of Sweden’s premier manufacturers located in Bodafors, Sweden—the heart of Swedish furniture making.
The design perfectly embodies the refined Swedish Art Deco aesthetic, defined by its clean, cylindrical shape and sophisticated geometry. Historically known as a "Rökbord" (service table), it was a fixture in the era’s smartest homes and offices. The cabinet body is crafted from dark elm, providing a striking dark contrast to the gleaming top. The top features masterful Marquetry composed of Golden Elm, Jacaranda, and prized Elm Burl a.k.a. rare Carpathian Elm arranged in an iconic sunburst pattern.
The piece offers ingenious utility, making it an outstanding end table, bookcase, or bar cart today:
1. Storage: The central compartment, secured by a new brass ring pull, offers discreet storage for spirits.
2. End Table with Bookcase: Two curved open shelves serve as a perfect small bookcase or display area. A generous 26” diameter top makes an ideal side, end or lamp table.
3. Mobility: Mounted on new brass and rubber casters for easy movement, it functions perfectly as a serving trolley or bar cart.
