About the Item

Refined Louis XVI cylinder bureau from France, circa 1780-1790. The carcass is pine with beautifully figured, thick-sawn walnut veneer; the interior is likewise finished in walnut. The cylinder runs smoothly and closes securely. A pull-out writing slide extends the work area and locks when the cylinder is shut. The writing surface carries black leather bordered by walnut. All locks and fittings are original and of fine quality. Elegant neoclassical lines, tapered legs, and balanced proportions underline the period character. Carefully restored and hand-polished, the piece retains a warm patina while being ready for daily use. The interior provides small drawers and open compartments for letters, papers, and stationery, making it both decorative and practical. A timeless, authentic bureau that pairs well with contemporary or traditional settings. Writing height: 75 cm. Clean, stable, and ready to place.
