About the Item

This striking oak secretary is an elegant statement piece with paneled doors, crown and three large lower serpentine drawers. The entire secretary has been given a professional custom layered salmon painted finish (may also appear to be a dusky desert pink depending on lighting) which has been gently distressed to reveal the original oak underneath, adding both dimension and character to this bureau. Please examine the photos to appreciate the beauty and texture of the lovely multi-layered finish. The middle section (with contrasting black painted interior) is the traditional desk which includes six small drawers which are revealed when the desktop is opened. The upper section has 2 cabinet doors which opens to reveal two large shelves and a 3rd upper notched shelf that originally served to display silver serving spoons. The lock for upper exterior door still functions with 1 key included. Inner cubbie has key better used as a pull only. The lower three drawers open using the attached brass pulls. A skeleton key is included as decoration only. The desktop has no functioning lock or key; no pull. This painted secretary is restored, solid/stable and ready to be used. It is built in two sections allowing for easier transportation and installation; original heavy iron side handles on lower base cabinet. All scratches, cracks, dings, and age related separation (especially drawer bottoms) are reflective of age/use and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this striking secretary. Old repairs/replacement of planks seen in back photos. Please refer to professional photos for clear understanding of color, condition, and details; photo lighting, individual monitor display and home lighting all impact how item is viewed. Photos are part of item description, please ask questions or request additional photos of specific areas if needed. Professional lighting often makes colors appear lighter than will be viewed in typical interior lighting.
