About the Item
A two part Swedish Gustavian secretary. The bonnet top consists of an impressive overhanging arched pediment cornice. Upper section has three shelves and two small drawers. Lower section has a slant front desk with three large drawers. The desk houses fourteen unique pullout drawers, four cubbies and one lockable door with reeded detailing. The desk has a slidable rectangular surface that can be used for secret storage. Upper door fronts have a detailed recessed wood design. Original iron locks and later ornate brass hardware. Tastefully repainted exterior with a light grey patina. The upper and lower interior sections retain remnants of their original salmon and blue/green paint.
