A stunning 19th-century Gustavian painted secretary bookcase, adorned with an elegant arched top above two matching glazed doors, each embellished with six delicate mullions and generous interior shelving for books and display. This exquisite piece is ideal for both literature and decorative objects. The bookcase features a practical slant-front desk with a fitted interior comprising nine small drawers and pigeonholes for documents and stationery, providing an organized writing surface and tidy storage when opened. Below the desk are two half-width drawers above two full-width drawers, offering ample space for linens, papers, or other household items, all arranged for convenient access. The piece retains its original hardware and exhibits paint that may have been carefully refreshed, preserving its antique character while presenting a refreshed, well-cared-for appearance that harmonizes patina with tasteful restoration.
