About the Item

A fine quality 19th century French ebonized secretaire abattant, having its original brocatelle marble-top, classical gilded ormolu mounts of swag, ribbon and caryatid design. The fall front and sides having beautiful hand-painted 'Sevres' porcelain plaques. It opens to reveal satinwood veneered drawers within and a velvet lined writing surface. The base has a mirror back and two turned tapering supports united by a self and terminating in turned ormolu-mounted feet.
