19th century Swedish Biedermeier secretaire chest of drawers circa 1860.
Fine example of a Karl Johan period secretaire which was Sweden's take on the French empire and the German biedermeier style movements.
Rectangular top with elegant stepped cornice, veneered in a tiger birch which is cut to highlight the grain. Top drawer partially pulls out and the drawer front drops down to form a writing surface, the rest of the drawer interior is fully fitted with 2 banks of 3 drawers flanking a central lockable tabernacle. 3 further drawers veneered in striking matched tiger birch. All raised on block feet.
Rich golden colour, re-polished by hand in our own workshop. Expected minor surface marks in line with age and use. Fine quality piece which is ready straight for the home.
