About the Item

Folk art secretary desk with a painted date, 1840, and initials. This genuine folk art furniture was made in northern Sweden during the 1800s. The front has four working drawers, a writing desk and small drawers behind the desk. Original condition with the original first layer of mahogany faux paint. The secretary desk has an unusual blue interior paint which is also original. The piece shows its history with distress to the paint and minor traces of use. The secretary is well made with a healthy and stable frame. Original hardware in brass that has lightly oxidised from the passing of time. Height to the desk when open is 82 cm and the depth is 46 and 21 cm respectively.
