About the Item

This Art Nouveau secretaire from around 1900 was crafted in Germany and is made of solid cherrywood. The piece stands out through its well-balanced proportions and the lively, warm grain typical of high-quality cherrywood from this period. The central writing compartment opens to reveal an interior veneered in fine bird’s-eye maple, which creates a striking contrast and gives the piece a refined, elegant character. The upper section features two glazed doors with subdivided panes and faceted muntins, a characteristic design element of Art Nouveau furniture. Below, three generously sized drawers offer ample storage and are fitted with original brass handles in Art Nouveau form. The secretaire has been professionally restored with great care, preserving its original character while ensuring full functionality. All drawers run smoothly, the writing compartment opens and closes properly, and the interior is clean and well maintained. The piece is in very good overall condition and ready for immediate use.
