Charming small Biedermeier Secretary from Southern Germany, crafted around 1840. The piece impresses with its fine walnut and walnut-root veneer on a solid pine body, polished to a warm, glossy surface with traditional shellac. The interior reveals a striking contrast with light birch veneer and meticulous craftsmanship, featuring several drawers and cleverly integrated secret compartments, all perfectly functional and beautifully arranged. The proportions are elegant and compact, ideal for smaller rooms or as a highlight piece in a refined classic interior. The writing board sits at a comfortable height of 71.5 cm, and when opened, the total depth extends to 104.5 cm. This secretaire is in very good restored condition and represents an authentic example of late Biedermeier elegance and timeless craftsmanship.
