About the Item
This incomparable slant-front chinoiserie black lacquer secretary desk depicts a serene, traditional Asian motif from head to toe. The gold and greens appear as mystical and radiant as the subject itself.
This desk is a magical treasure chest of locking drawers, dividers and charming hidden compartments. Four locking drawers with brass handles open and close with ease. Practicality and functionality without any compromise on the artful design. Mystical landscapes of blossoming trees and far east architecture will captivate onlookers.
The black lacquer looks great and has also been masterfully and subtly touched-up. The key to any restoration is making improvements without making it look as though anything has been done.

Dorothy Draper style campaign credenza made by esteemed US furniture maker Thomasville circa 1970s. Old growth flaxen flared grain fruitwood (most likely pecan) from top to bottom are the hallmarks of the Embassy line. Black lacquer accents and brass pull hardware tie together British traditional and Eastern design. The door facades exhibit a diamond pattern wood inlay with contrasting color tones, presented tastefully to demonstrate a delicate ornate sensibility. Two large Interior cabinet spaces offer heaps of open storage with a single stationary shelf in each bay. No composite or MDF anywhere on this campaign credenza. Thomasville used a combination of solid hardwood interiors, solid fruitwood and veneers.
