About the Item

Early 19th-century Danish pine secretary with newer professionally applied layered blue painted exterior and contrasting steel-gray painted interior. Light distressing reveals natural pine beneath and complements the aged character of the piece. Upper paneled glass doors provide elegant display space and secure with a functioning latch. The middle desk section locks with its original key and opens to an interior fitted with multiple petite drawers, a central cubby, and three additional small drawers concealed behind the small door. Desktop rests on extending wood arms. Below are three large drawers and one slender drawer set just beneath the desktop. Typical age-related separation is seen in the drawer bottoms. Old repairs using a type of fabric glued over the separation are still in place in many sections. Baroque influences appear in the paneled fall-front and the curved lower drawer fronts. Upper interior shelf is curved and notched, originally intended for displaying family silver spoons. Three small pull-outs beneath the glass doors may have been originally intended for placing candles or small objects. Restored, strong, and stable, this secretary is ready for use and offers excellent storage and display in a classic Scandinavian form. Age related separation evident along back, upper back appears to have been replaced/restored at some earlier point in time.  Built in three sections for easier transportation and installation. All scratches, cracks, dings, and age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this special secretary or "bureau."  Please refer to professional photos for clear understanding of color, condition, and details; photo lighting, individual monitor display and home lighting all impact how item is viewed.Photos are part of item description, please ask questions or request additional photos of specific areas if needed.
